St. Paul’s High School (Covington, LA) offensive lineman Andrew Shofstahl is one of the top rising prospects in the state for the 2028 class and after already receiving 11 offers from schools like Mississippi State, SMU, TCU, NC State, Old Dominion, Georgia State, Tulane, UTSA, Southern Miss, UL, and McNeese State, his recruitment has picked up even more after receiving an offer from LSU yesterday.
This offer comes after a standout performance at LSU’s lineman camp. Showcasing his incredible physical skillset was all the staff needed to see in order to pull the trigger on the offer.
“I did extremely well at camp and it showed the coaches my ability to bend at 320. They also complimented me on my ‘heavy hands’, which they said isn’t coachable. I knew I had a good chance of getting offered from the camp as long as I did what I needed to do.”

The camp was an early opportunity for Shofstahl to work with LSU offensive line coach Eric Wolford, who has three decades of experience at the college and NFL level.
“I really like Coach Wolf. He doesn’t tell you what you want to hear. He gets straight to the point, which is necessary for a great coach. Through the process, he has been very consistent even though he has only been there for 6 months.”

Getting an offer from the big in-state school is a great experience for him as it is only increasing his confidence even more.
“Obviously being a Louisiana boy, this offer means a ton. Everyone in the state bleeds purple and gold. I grew up watching them Saturday nights. It’s crazy to think I can be on that screen one day.”

As mentioned above, Shofstahl has not come out of nowhere as he is rated as a three star prospect according to 247 Sports. At 6’4, 320 pounds, the Wolves’ big mauler on the line of scrimmage has already produced an impressive prep career as a two time All-State, All-Parish, All-District, and All-Metro selection.
“My ability to bend and use my strength to my advantage really shows up on my film. Also, over the years, I have become a way better pulling guard, which is dangerous!”

What is even scarier is that the number one interior offensive lineman in the state is only scratching the surface with two more years remaining.
“I’ve been leaning up a little bit and probably will play this season at 310 and just focusing on being my fastest most athletic possible self. Goals are to go win state and first team All-State.”

It certainly does not hurt to get some even more coaching and tutoring from one of LSU’s all-time greats in Alan Faneca, who is a NFL Hall of Fame offensive lineman with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, and Arizona Cardinals.

Shofstahl is also no stranger to Gridiron Football’s platform as entering his sophomore campaign, he was named one of our camp’s top performers at Lamar Dixon Expo Center. Going up against players like Baylor signee Tyrone Morgan has helped him prepare for the type of players he will be facing against at the next level.
“I really enjoyed Gridiron’s football camp. I truly got a lot out of it. Also having the chance to compete against a Baylor commit edge rusher was great for my game.”

Getting an offer from a SEC school like LSU this early in the process is rare, but at the same time, Andrew Shofstahl is taking the recruiting process head on as he plans on taking visits to schools like Ohio State, Duke, and NC State.
“Number one priority for me now is the coaches. I want to find my forever home and stay there for my four years. Also, the culture means a lot to me. Under Lane Kiffin, LSU is going to be a dynasty.”

With a combination of pure strength, power, athleticism, and a 3.93 GPA in the classroom, Andrew Shofstahl’s ceiling is very high to not only be one of the top Louisiana prospects, but also one of the top prospects in the country when it is all said and done.
“Whoever gets me will be getting a player dedicated on the field, in the gym, and in the classroom, who plans on staying loyal to their program, and that is why finding the right fit is crucial in this process.”
