After wrapping up a huge weekend for LSU, the Tigers came away big with four commitments in the 2027 class. Over the last two days, LSU picked up commitments on Sunday from 5 star DE KJ Green and 3 star RB Brennen Lacey as well as 3 star ATH Markez Davis, and 4 star wide receiver Cade Cooper today.
KJ Green is the headliner of the group as he is the number eight overall prospect in the country and the number two EDGE rusher in the 2027 recruiting class. At 6’4, 230 pounds, Green has been a nightmare off the edge playing at Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia finishing his junior campaign with 129 tackles, 18 sacks, 40 TFLs, 4 FFs, and 1 FR. Green chose the Tigers over other big time programs including Oregon, Texas, and Alabama. Green has a long relationship with defensive line coach Sterling Lucas who has been recruiting him since the 8th grade.
Also on Sunday, LSU picked up a commitment from running back Brennen Lacey, who is from Frisco High School in Frisco, Texas. This is the first running back commitment in this year’s class for running backs coach Kevin Smith as Lacey chose LSU over schools like Notre Dame, Miami, TCU, Texas Tech, Florida, and other programs. At 6’0, 190 pounds, he is the ranked the 31st best running back in the nation and has been clocked with an impressive 10.91 second 100 meter dash. With this commitment, LSU is now focused on their next target at the position, which is Franklin Parish (Winnsboro, LA) four star running back Trey Martin.
Today, the Tigers added three star ATH Markez Davis out of Northwest High School in Opelousas, Louisiana. Projected to play cornerback for Corey Raymond, he fits the mold of long, athletic defensive backs that have come through Baton Rouge as Davis is listed at 6’3 tall. The number 15 overall prospect in the state of Louisiana has really picked up his recruitment over the last couple of weeks picking up offers from Alabama, Mississippi State, Houston, and West Virginia. Not only an All-State wide receiver and cornerback, Davis is an outstanding basketball player as well for the Raiders as a 1,000 point scorer.
The final commitment of the weekend is Malvern Prep 4 star wide receiver Cade Cooper who chose LSU after taking his official visit in Baton Rouge visiting with wide receivers coach George McDonald. The top 10 recruit from the state of Pennsylvania has many offers including from Penn State, Ole Miss, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Miami, Cincinnati, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, and others. He is the third receiver to commit in this class joining Braylon Calais out of Cecilia and Ah’Mari Stevens out of Hollywood, Florida.
