Davis named to D3football Region Team

After one of the best seasons by a receiver in Louisiana College history, junior Shedrick Davis was selected to the 2016 D3football.com All-South Region Team, announced on Monday night. Davis is the third receiver in school history to be named to the All-Region Team, and the first since D’Mario Parker following the 2012 season.

Shedrick Davis caught 79 passes on the season for 1,078 yards and 13 touchdowns. His 2016 totals in receptions and touchdowns were the second most for a single season in Louisiana College history. Against East Texas Baptist, the Baton Rouge native broke the school record for touchdown grabs in a game with four and against Hardin-Simmon tied the record for most receptions in a single game with 14.  He had six games with more than 100 yards receiving this year and three games with 10 or more catches.

The teams, selected in balloting by South Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 229 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 77 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 16, in D3football.com’s pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLIV.
