West Feliciana made a statement Friday night, overpowering Ferriday 56-12 in a Week 2 matchup that showcased the Saints’ explosive offense and suffocating defense.
Coming off a 56-20 victory over Scotlandville in Week 1, West Feliciana entered the game with plenty of confidence and continued that momentum from the opening kickoff. The Saints controlled the game on both sides of the football, turning the matchup into a one-sided affair and improving to 2-0 in the early season. Meanwhile, the Panthers dropped to 0-2 after also falling in their season opener.
The 56-point performance gives West Feliciana 112 points through its first two games, an impressive offensive start that has the Saints establishing themselves as one of the area’s teams to watch. Their defense has been equally impressive, allowing only 32 points combined through two games.
For Ferriday, the challenge now becomes regrouping quickly. Despite the difficult start, the Trojans have an opportunity to reset next Friday when they return home to face Delta Charter. That game is scheduled for Sept. 18, giving Ferriday a chance to get into the win column and build some momentum heading into the heart of the season.
West Feliciana will face another test next week when East St. John visits for a matchup. The Saints will enter that game at 2-0, while East St. John is coming off a loss to John Ehret. After scoring 112 points in two games, West Feliciana will look to keep its offensive attack rolling while proving it can maintain its early season dominance against another quality opponent
