Grambling State University took a bite out of the Alcorn State Braves and their previously undefeated Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) record when the Tigers demanded their well-earned victory. 
The epic battle for a flawless conference record continued into OT until Grambling muscled up and pushed through their opponents defense in order to claim an extremely close 35-34 victory. Grambling’s strongest quarters happened during the second half of the game when they managed to completely shut down the Brave’s scoring ability and tie the game when they scored two touchdowns in the third quarter which went un-answered by their opponents until OT. The Tigers’ sophomore WR Martez Carter, definitely enjoyed Saturday’s satisfying win because it was also his second game in a row in which he accumulated over 100 yards. Continuing on with their own undefeated SWAC record, the black and gold Tigers will be challenging the Mississippi Valley State Devils in Eddie Robinson Stadium this upcoming Saturday, October 24. Knowing that MVS has yet to claim a victory this season, the Tigers’ upcoming matchup against the Devils might actually be more harmless than it will be “demonic”.
Looking further into the schedule, the Tigers’ will continue to sharpen both their skills and their claws especially for their future conference competitors, the Texas Southern University Tigers on November 7 in Eddie Robinson Stadium as well. Knowing that last season’s SWAC matchup between the two schools resulted in the Black and Gold Tigers dominating the field with a 35-7 victory, the Texas Southern University Tigers may actually be playfully renamed the cubs after this year’s game against GSU. Be sure track the Tiger’s prowl to success this season as they continue to set themselves apart from the rest and sink their teeth into yet another winning season.
