LSU Fall Practice #2 Report: Freshmen Richard Anderson and Deuce Geralds Get First Team Reps With Defensive Line

Once again, the media got 15 minutes of availability and today, I focused on the defense after watching the offense yesterday.

One of the biggest takeaways on defense was that two freshmen defensive tackles were getting first team reps in Deuce Geralds and Richard Anderson. Geralds has been impressive throughout spring and fall in making his way up the depth chart while Anderson is a highly touted prospect out of Edna Karr High School that is expected to get a lot of playing time.

Also, on the first team, Jhase Thomas was once again getting first team reps at safety alongside Boise State transfer Ty Benefield. The rest of the starting first team defense included Princewill Umanmielen and Jordan Ross at defensive end, Whit Weeks and TJ Dottery at linebacker, PJ Woodland and DJ Pickett at cornerback, and Dashawn Spears at Star.

The second team defense featured Malik Blocton and Stephiylan Green at defensive tackle, Lamar Brown and Dylan Carpenter at defensive end, Tylen Singleton and Davhon Keys at linebacker, CJ Jimcoily at Star, Michael Turner Jr., who is in a yellow non-contact jersey, and Ja’Keem Jackson a at cornerback, and Tamarcus Cooley and Faheem Delane at safety.

We also got to see some individual periods. It is good to see former Ed Orgeron back with the Tigers helping Kevin Peoples with the defensive line. Jake Olsen and Corey Raymond were hands on working with the defensive backs today.

The next LSU practice report will be on Monday so stay tuned for www.gridironfootballusa.com for more!
