Today, LSU was able to flip four star defensive back Karnell “Greedy” James from Texas for their 15th commitment of the 2027 class.
A consensus four star defensive back has been committed to the Longhorns since the end of the year last year, but a recent visit to Baton Rouge and talk with cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond were driving forces behind this flip.
The 6’0, 175 pound defensive back from Manvel High School in Manvel, Texas has the versatility to play either cornerback or safety in defensive coordinator Blake Baker’s system. LSU’s reputation to turn defensive backs into superstars also played a key role. James is coming off a great junior campaign in which he had 53 tackles, 2 INTs, 1 FR (49-yard TD return), and 6 pass breakups while also having 2 punt return TDs.
The number five safety in America is now the second defensive back to commit in the class following Northwest High School defensive back Markez Davis, who committed to the Tigers nearly a month ago.
