LSU got their 14th official commitment of the 2027 class as Lane Kiffin and company flipped former Houston commit Gary Burney Jr. to the purple and gold.
Ranked as the number 22 overall player in Louisiana and the number 104 wide receiver in the nation according to 247 sports, the Parkway High School (Bossier City, Louisiana) product was committed to Houston since May 30th, but flipped his commitment after a visit to Baton Rouge this weekend.
Along with Houston, Burney had offers from schools like Baylor, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati. At 6’3, 180 pounds, Burney attends the same school as former LSU standout wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr.
Heading into his senior season, Burney is coming off an impressive junior campaign in which he had 76 catches for 1,367 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Panthers. The long, rangy receiver from Parkway is also a track standout that has run a 22.72 200 meter relay dash and is a member of Louisiana 5A’s regional qualifying 4×100 meter relay.
He is currently the fourth wide receiver in the current class joining others like Braylon Calais, Ah’Mari Stevens, and Cade Cooper. The class is trending hot as it is now ranked in the top 20 in the nation.
