After getting four commitments last week, LSU is continuing to heat up in recruiting with six more commitments this week. Not only is Lane Kiffin and his staff bolstering the current 2027 class, but they also gained their first commitment of the 2028 class as well.
The Tigers gained their first offensive linemen commits in the class by flipping previously Cal commit Amaziah Siale. The 6’6, 360 pound offensive tackle from Mission Viejo High School is the number 46 player in the state of California and had offers from schools like Texas, Oklahoma, West Virginia, SMU, Alabama, and Utah. The relationship he built with LSU offensive line coach Eric Wolford played a big part in his recruitment.
LSU also got their second offensive lineman commitment the same day in four star OT Terrance Smith, who hails from Lansdale Catholic High School in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. At 6’7, 290 pounds, Smith is the number seven overall recruit in the state of Pennsylvania and a Top 15 lineman in the country. Smith chose the Tigers over other scholarship offers from Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Michigan, and others.
After picking up two offensive linemen commitments, LSU had a recruiting day yesterday in getting four more commitments with three of them coming from the 2027 class. Running backs coach Kevin Smith gained not one, but two of the top running backs in the entire country in Tre Segarra and Trey Martin.
Segarra is ranked as a Top 10 running back in the nation. Prepping at Byrnes High School in Duncan, South Carolina, Segarra chose to commit to the Tigers over his local South Carolina Gamecocks. At 5’10, 205 pounds, he is a multi-sport athlete that excels in soccer and wrestling and is coming off a junior campaign in which he ran for 1,460 yards and 17 touchdowns. He has received offers from the likes of Indiana, Stanford, Alabama, Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee and others.
Shortly after Segarra’s commitment, LSU got their third running back commitment of the class and somebody that even Ed Orgeron was heavily recruiting in Franklin Parish High School (Winnsboro, LA) four star running back Trey Martin. At 5’10, 200 pounds, Martin is coming off a standout junior year in which he ran for 1,310 yards and 26 touchdowns while also showing his pass catching ability with 17 catches for 277 yards and five touchdowns. The number one running back in Louisiana chose LSU over other SEC programs like Florida and Ole Miss.
Getting two of the top running backs in the country is huge and the cherry on top is getting five star DE Chris Whitehead. Ranked as the number one player in the state of Virginia out of Lloyd C. Byrd High School in Chesterfield, Virginia, the 6’4, 230 pound defensive end is coming off an All-State campaign in which he totaled 54 tackles, 23 TFLs, 10.5 sacks, 3 FFs, and a fumble recovery on defense. Whitehead is the second five star defensive end commit in this class joining K.J. Green. LSU fought over his services with other schools including Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, and others. With this commitment, it also set the tone for the first official 2028 commitment for the Tigers in Chris’ younger brother Isaiah Whitehead.
At 6’4, 325 pounds, Whitehead is a rising prospect as the number 38 overall offensive tackle in the country and the number seven overall player in the state of Virginia. While it was a slow start at the beginning of the summer, Lane Kiffin and his staff has certainly turned up the heat with another big week.
