Madison Prep takes care of business against U High

Entering Thursday Nights game both U High and Madison Prep were looking to avenge there season opening losses. Tensions were high coming into tonight’s game as a flag was thrown on the opening kickoff. Knox Kiffin lead the U High Cubs down the field on an opening drive with not only his arm but his feet as well converting on 2 different 4th down conversions. U High capped off there opening drive with a 4 yard rushing Touchdown by Running back Corbin Odell giving the Cubs a 7-0 lead early. The Madison Prep Chargers first drive of the game resulted in a 3 and out after strong defensive play from the U High defensive line. Following a punt, Knox Kiffin makes a throw that is tipped and intercepted by safety Trishaun Rheams to end the first quarter.

The chargers capitalized off of this with big throws from Freshmen quarterback Jacobe Shannon Jr. including a 8 yard touchdown pass to senior Landon Johnson but with a missed extra point by Madison Prep, U High still holds the lead 7-6 midway thorough the second quarter. U High responds with a turnover on downs at midfield. And Madison Prep takes full advantage on this by using there strong run game that results in an incredible 14 yard touchdown pass by Jacobe Shannon Jr to Wide Receiver Kayden Craven who makes a spectacular catch and the two point conversion is punched in by Running Back J’on Profit giving Madison Prep a 14-7 lead going into the half

Madison Prep opens up the second half with the ball and a lead. And strike fast with senior J’on Profit using his lighting quick speed taking off for a 62 yard rushing touchdown. Madison Prep go for a 2 point conversion but fail giving the chargers a 20-7 lead early in the 3rd quarter. With a punt by U High. Jacobe Shannon Jr strikes again to number 13 Jordan McGee for a 60 yard touchdown . The Chargers go for the 2 point conversion and fail bringing the score to 26-7 Madison Prep.

But the U High Cubs don’t give up just yet as they catch Chargers with a fake punt that results in a 64 yard touchdown for number 23 Emmanuel Moses to cut the deficit down to 12 near the end of the 3rd quarter. But right before the quarter ends Jacobe Shannon Jr finds Traven Hayes over the middle of the field for yet another 50+ yard passing touchdown. After another failed 2 point conversion the chargers lead 32-14 bringing us to the end of the quarter

The 4th quarter beings with both teams losing possession because of turnover on downs. U High has another turnover on downs inside of their own red zone as the chargers defense continues to swarm Knox Kiffin as they have done all night and pick up another sack. Madison Prep uses there amazing field position to score a rushing touchdown to put the nail in the coffin and go up 38-14. But Knox Kiffin and the U High cubs are not gonna go down without a fight as Kiffin uses his legs to score a very impressive touchdown 54 yard touchdown with 23 seconds left to make the game 38-21

Madison Prep avenges there lose from last week in a dominate fashion by beating U High 38-21 with a dominate performance from their defense, their run game and an amazing performance from Freshmen QB Jacobe Shannon Jr who ended his night with 4 passing touchdowns and 205 passing yards. Madison Prep (1-1) will head to Zachary next week and U High (0-2) will look to bounce back as they travel to Plaquemine to hopefully pick up their first win of the season.
